The Juniper Forest in the Teufelsheide

Just a few kilometres from Müden (Örtze) lies the impressive juniper heath near Schmarbeck. The circular hiking trail "The Juniper Forest in the Teufelsheide" leads through the Dübelsheide and Schlichternheide, in the northern part of the Südheide Nature Park.

Expansive heathland, ancient juniper groves, and the region's characteristic heath landscape make this hike a memorable nature experience for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Kieselguhr – The Gold of the Heath

The 3.2-kilometre short route of the hiking trail leads through vast heathland, mat-grass meadows, and open birch forests towards Neuohe. Along the way, traces of the former diatomite mining industry can be discovered.

A special highlight of the tour are the former mining ponds, whose crystal-clear waters resemble Scandinavian lakes and give the route its unique charm.

The 5.5-kilometre circular hiking trail starts in Müden (Örtze) and takes you through diverse heathland and forest landscapes. Highlights along the route include Wietzer Berg with the Lönsstein monument, historic burial mounds, an old sheepfold, as well as the Lindestein and Fritz-Flebbe-Stein landmarks.

The varied trail leads back to the starting point via the Wietzenfeld, combining nature, history, and stunning views.
